So, you have your flights booked, your accommodation is waiting and now it’s time for the tedious task of packing your suitcase.
Your outfits are chosen, your shoes are ready for lots of walking and hopefully dancing and all that’s left are the important items that can sometimes be overlooked and forgotten altogether.
Here’s a reminder for those items that you will need for your much deserved holiday abroad.
Passport!!!!!!
No need for explanation, just don’t forget it.
Sunscreen and After Sun
In any hot destination, in any city or during any season sunscreen is extremely important. Even if you aren’t sun bathing out in the sun, or if the weather is gloomy, you should still pack your sunscreen.
There’s nothing worse than that uncomfortable feeling of sunburn that can affect the rest of your holiday and make nights uncomfortable.
Climates in foreign countries are very different and even though it may look cloudy or gloomy, the sun is still present and can burn.
A cold wind or being in water can hide the burning process, so definitely do not forget your sunscreen.
A Good Book
Bringing a couple of good books on holiday is always a good idea, especially if you are in a country where books, news papers and magazines are unavailable.
If you are on a tropical vacation, your best companion may be a long beach novel that you have been meaning to read but never had the time during your busy everyday life. It’s also good to have handy whilst waiting at the airport, during a long flight or simply relaxing in your hotel room or on the balcony.
A good book can pass time quickly so grab that book and relax.
Hand Sanitizer
Sometimes when packing for a holiday, unusual items can easily be forgotten. In these times a small bottle of hand sanitizer or spray is very important for peace of mind.
Touching money, hand rails and public places can spread thousands of germs that we don’t even consider. Pay more attention to your health and if you are unable to constantly wash your hands regularly, a bottle of hand sanitizer can literally save your life.
Many illnesses are caused by unhygienic conditions, so keeping hand sanitizer in your bag and using it regularly can reduce your chances of picking up germs and getting sick.
Bug Repellent
You are excited about your well deserved holiday abroad. You jump on a plane yet forget about those pesky mosquitoes waiting for you.
These annoying flies can be a real nuisance even in the most stunning and idyllic locations. The itch from a bite can last for days, and keep you awake at night scratching, so keeping a bug repellent on hand is a very good idea.
Eating outside or even just sitting outside in the evening is the time when most people get bitten because you can’t see the little critters. Spray yourself before you leave your hotel and after a swim or shower to keep these annoying bugs away.
Vitamin Supplements
If you are someone who regularly takes vitamins bring them with you on your holiday. Don’t abandon your daily routines.
Some vitamins can boost your immune system and raise your energy levels so if you’re more active on holiday, it’s good to continue taking them as they can be beneficial.
They are also good to prevent potential illnesses, especially abroad and whilst travelling.
Pain Killers or Other Medication
These can easily be forgotten but extremely useful if you get sick. It’s best to take some with you because a change in climate can sometimes cause headaches, as can excessive alcohol which some of us are guilty of on our holidays, and why not?!
In foreign countries, the medication can have very different names, so to avoid buying the wrong medication it’s best to pack a few in your suitcase.
The same goes for medicine for an upset stomach. Different foods can sometimes be upsetting for the gut so something to calm this down is a good idea.
Travel Adaptor
Since electric outlets can vary from country to country a travel adaptor is highly useful. Charging mobile phones, laptops and other electrical items is a must and you’ll always have to find a way to plug in your devices. Be it two pronged, three pronged or some other combination.
Make sure that your devices are dual voltage or suitable for the voltage in the country you are traveling to.
