Location

Uzumlu is a village up in the mountains. It’s about 20 minute’s drive to Calis Beach and about 35 minutes to Fethiye. It’s very peaceful and quiet but you can find some bars and restaurants nearby. There is a big expat community in Uzumlu with lots of new property being built. It is also a few degrees cooler in the summer as it’s in the mountains. Uzumlu is a very traditional village town sitting 15km away from the town of Fethiye. The village is absolutely stunning with the backdrop of the Taurus Mountains and never-ending countryside.

Uzumlu property prices are much lower here due to being in a much more rural location and away from the livelier tourist resorts. British expats choose Uzumlu as a place for retirement due to the laid-back nature of life here.

In the winter visitors come to ski or snowboard on the snow topped mountains.

The locals in Uzumlu are particularly friendly and offer their homemade produce wherever you go. Local weavers produce specialty fabrics which is a tradition of Uzumlu.

The village is also well known for its wine production due to the many vineyards surrounding the area. There are restaurants here but with a much more traditional feel. Real Turkish meals homemade by locals and small cafes are dotted around this village.

There is an annual festival called the Mushroom festival of Uzumlu held every April. This festival is to celebrate the Morel mushroom but normally includes traditional music, dancing and selling of homemade wares. This festival lasts for 3 days.

This area though is aimed at buyers who want a quiet life and to watch the world go by. Stunning properties can be found here and at a fraction of the cost.
