Antalya is located on the Mediterranean coast in the South of Turkey. Every year thousands of tourists flood here to visit this beautiful city, therefore it is one of the most important cities of tourism in Turkey.
The coastal length is 630 kilometers and is considered Turkey’s Riviera.
Places of interest include…..
The Antalya Caves.
One of the best ways to escape the high humidity of the city is to visit these amazing and very cool caves. The caves themselves are located in the Ibradi District and include Damlatas, Dim, Karain and Zeytinas. Ibradi District is known as Turkey’s largest underground lake. The caves of Yerkopru and Yalan Dunya are also very popular. Karain Cave is one of the largest natural caves in Turkey.
The Manavat Waterfall
This picturesque waterfall is a place of natural beauty and is located 80km from Antalya sourced out of the slopes of Mount Seytan which is the Eastern part of the Taurus Mountains and is one of the most famous waterfalls in Turkey. This waterfall falls from a fairly low height but it creates scenery well worth seeing and has a spectacular roaring sound.
Koprulu Canyon National Park
This national park is stunning and easily accessible from Side, with blue green water of the Koprulu River snaking through the dramatic and rough edged high cliffs. This is one of Turkey’s most popular white water rafting destinations.
Yivli Minare
This is Antalya’s most distinctive landmarks and was built by Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad between 1219 and 1236. The minaret is a typical example of Seljuk architecture, with a square base surmounted by an octagonal drum with a fluted shaft, and a corbelled gallery around the top. The attached 14th century mosque is still in use today. The minaret is right beside the Kale entrance gate into the old city.
The Old Harbor
This breathtaking harbor can be found nestling into a recess in the cliffs. Various boutiques, cafes, bazaars and plenty of yachts can be found here whilst looking out at the shimmering turquoise Mediterranean. There’s plenty of shopping to be done here or simply pull up a chair in one of the pretty cafes, sip your coffee and watch the sun set over the sea.
