During the winter of 2020, the local council or Belediye are revamping Calis promenade. The Palm trees that have been present here for many years are getting moved to a new temporary home, using special machinery as to not damage the trees.
A lot of the restaurant owners were unhappy at first because the original frontage meant the restaurants and cafes had lots of space for dining outside under shade covers. Now, a lot of the shady areas and under cover seating areas will have to be removed.
The new plans will include new lighting along the promenade but, with consideration taken for the nesting Loggerhead Turtles that call Calis beach their home. There will also be plenty more additional showers, seating and shaded areas.
These works will be completed ready for the new summer season, hopefully in mid April 2021.
So far, the old parquet tiles have been removed and the infrastructure work is being started. The water and electrical services are the first to be started. Once the infrastructure work is complete the new landscaping and flooring will be installed along with extra seating areas along the beach wall and also extra seating will be added.
